What happens when you open a farmstand in Crown Heights / East Flatbush area on a gorgeous Youth Farm? A neighboring cafeteria walks up and buys all of your collard greens and turnip greens in the first five minutes. So you go harvest more. And people keep buying the greens until they're gone...again. Don't even think about trying to leave, because once you have opened the market, everyone wants their collards and callaloo!
We are ecstatic that the community was out in full force supporting the project today. Another bit of great news: the Department of Health has awarded us a Healthy Bucks Grant to facilitate the community buying produce with EBT.
