For many New York City children, handling chicken means grabbing a nugget and swiping it through a trail of barbecue sauce. But on Sunday young residents will have a chance to pick up chickens that have never been near a stove — and never will.
The feathered and nonfeathered friends will meet at “Fun With Chickens!,” a workshop from the nonprofit New York Restoration Project, which reclaims city parks and gardens. One of the project’s sites, the Schenectady Avenue Community Garden in Brooklyn, now welcomes strutting hens — 49 of them — as well as strolling New Yorkers...
