Farm, Market & Chicken Apprenticeships
Farm & Market Apprentices will work closely with the bk farmyards Farm Manager to run our weekly farmers market and operate the Youth Farm. Farm Apprentices will assist with daily farm work, including sewing, weeding, staking and harvesting. Market Apprentices will assist the Farm Manager in operating the Market & CSA including assisting with harvest, set up, distribution, outreach and planning.
This position will run from the beginning of September through the end of October. Market Apprentices will work Wednesdays from 2pm -8pm, with a second day optional. Farm Apprentices will work 10 hours per week. We work during all weather, and will be doing manual and rewarding work. This is an education based un-paid apprenticeship, however apprentices will receive free produce
Chicken Apprentices will learn the basics of raising hens in the city and direct marketing eggs. The Apprenticeship will run for 3 months. Apprentices will spend 2 to 4 hours per week in the Imani Garden working with the hens, helping with the CSA and taking field trips. Fall Chicken Apprentices will start on Sept 20th.
