BK Farmyards is an innovative network of Brooklyn farmers growing local, nutritious food in the cracks of the urban landscape. BK Farmyards seeks to engage and empower our local communities through programs ranging from youth-led markets to apprenticeship programs. The Operations Intern position is primarily administrative, with a focus on a holistic, operational understanding of grassroots urban agriculture.
Working closely with our Operations Manager, the Operations Intern will:
· Experience the day-to-day undertakings of urban agriculture in NYC
· Help brainstorm future development events and community-engagement projects
· Assist in long term financial strategizing, planning and implementation
· Learn basic grant management strategy
· Oversee individual projects, with latitude for personal judgment
A potential intern should have an interest in:
· Learning the strategy and process of building a dynamic urban agriculture venture
· The intersection of technology and community building
· Finding creative solutions to logistical and operational challenges
· Creating healthy communities through balanced food distribution
· Direct marketing of produce in an urban environment
Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled in or graduated from an accredited university, or comparable experience
· Creative, detail-oriented individual that can see short term and long term goals simultaneously
· Excellent research, writing and communication skills
· Friendly, dynamic and positive energy
